European Baseball Softball Congress

From February 01-03 the joint ESF and CEB annual congresses were hosted in Athens. A total of 150 representatives from all European Softball and Baseball federations gathered in the birthplace of Democracy to discuss all topics regarding the problems, development and future of our sports. The importance of our sports and their significance for the Olympic movement was proven by the presence of the Hellenic Olympic Committee President Mr. Spryos Kapralos and the President of the International Olympic Academy Mr, Isidoros Kouvelos at the congress opening. Also, present was WBSC President Mr. Riccardo Fraccari.

Overall the congress was a big success with fruitful discussions and important decisions being made, the most significant being the unification of ESF and CEB into WBSC Europe. Everybody enjoyed the warm hospitality (and the Greek night dinner after the congress) offered by the Hellenic Softball Federation. Summing up the Hellenic Federation President, Mr. Kostis Liarommatis stated: ”It was a huge honor for our Federation and for our country the European Congress of Baseball and Softball be held in Athens. These 5 days we share ideas and knowledge each others and we are very optimistic for the future of our sports.”
